VÅRE REISER

well it fits quite alright for me to start my PARIS guide while laying in bed sick ( mind traveling )
one week from now i will be in New York as well so then i will be all tuned out ..
PLUS i lost count of the amount of friends, and friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends, that asked me over the last 10 years to tell them were to: go, eat, sleep, see in Paris, and after countless of small scribbled notes its now time for the guide to MY PARIS :)

here we go ..

EAT !
first eat, then see cause i don't know about you but i get grumpy if i don't eat ..

breakfast is a non sense in Paris ( or france in general ) if you are not eating at your hotel you will most likely get at best , a scrambled egg and a piece of baguette at "worst" a croissant and a black coffee ( good if you can survive on it over an hour ) BUT if you choose to eat breakfast out here are some ok places ..

le square trousseau : square trousseau 11th arrondissement

its located in front of a small green square , it is open all day and serve excellent meals from breakfast like the picture under ( egg benedicte ) to lunch ( great entrecôte and french fries ) to dinner with ambiance, always with a diligent service and regardless the time of the day everything is always rather perfect . if you are there on a saturday or sunday morning ( before 12.00) make sure to pass trough the french open food market a street away witch is one of the most exotic in Paris with its food stall full of fresh goods , the thrift market in the middle and a indoor food market full of italian french stall ..the food market is called marché d´Aligre .

Le pain quotidien is a franchise chain proposing breakfast and lunch that are a bit more on the heavy side , you can find one in each quartier ( arrondissement : quarter )
a good one is located at the top of rue de montorgueuil 2nd arrondissement

le marche des enfants rouges is located rue de bretagne in the 3rd

once passed the portal you will find a small amount of food stall were people eat in open air or some propose a rooftop , from maroccan to japanse you can choose a bit of everything and make a great late breakfast or lunch there , don't forget to check the old photo shop on the left side of the entrance ..

right in front you will find the very hip ( at least in the Paris fashion world ) cafe charlot
open early closing late they boast the best sunday brunch ( big late breakfast lunch : brunch )
and some very descent burgers salad etc.. in a cool white tiles deco ..
the terrasse is prized on a sunny day for people watching ..

i like to have a snack , lunch or sweet breakfast at Rose bakery rue de belleyme a 5 minute walk from rue de bretagne , its organic and simple with some gorgious pastry .

since we are still in the same area we can jump to

LUNCH and things to see ..

once in Paris make sure to visit the new IT store MERCI . ( or thank you , or thank you for leaving all your money with us :)
Merci is 111 boulevard beaumarchais
try their side restaurant for fresh salad or plate of charcuterie and take a look inside the shop for their installation cool paper department , 3 level of goods of all kinds  and trend setting products ..
one book cafe is situated on the right , one salad bar on the left and one more restaurant in the basement

for people interested in kids fashion take a look at the corner shop ( right from merci ) called bonpoint
fun photo both , mini hair salong , under level full of fun accessories for kids and young grown ups ..

to feed your brain
musée Picasso is refurbishing but open most times 5 minutes away..

my best shop for industrial furniture ( the real deal )
is on rue de vielle du temple 3rd
there is no name on the door , its closed on mondays , they fill it up each tuesday but all red dotted pieces are sold out , its a few meter from the Surface to Air shop , and before  the Vanessa Bruno one ..( two great clothe brand we sell here at shine that you can find in Paris )

along rue vielle du temple you can find several great cafe and shop , rue de poitou another shine
the cheaper mixed brand shop Abou d´abi
zadig and voltaire , APC , les petites , vanessa bruno , american apparel etc...
lower toward the center on the same street : Aesop , mannoush , paul and joe , corpus cristi ...

when you come closer to rue des rosiers you can EAT AGAIN ..
best fallafel in town at l´as du falafel ( try sitting down and enjoy a plate with pita bread , i guaranty you it will be the best cheap meal you ever had )

for breakfast or brunch les philosophes 28 rue vielles du temples has great breakfast menu ..

tea time or gift or best tea in Paris/france is at Marriage et Freres rue du bourg tibourg
two shops facing each other , try any one and go home with fragrant tea in beautiful boxes ..or try sitting down and enjoy a tea cake with a hot pot ..

best perfume shop in town is at sens unique rue du roi de sicile , a small but full of unique perfume with a fantastic host who has a nose for the best new perfume on the market .

another shop to absolutely pay a visit to is the two spot ( one for men one for woman ) called
l´eclaireur if not for what they sell but for the cutting edge way they present the products
men at rue Malher

woman rue de sevigne

at night eat at : chez janou
2 Rue Roger Verlomme  75003 Paris, France                             reserve there to make sure you get a table as its really popular( 01 42 72 28 41)
a bit of a jazzy ambience there and very nice french bistro food .

or another DINNER must is at 404 rue des gravilliers were you will drink the best mojito, eat the best maroccan
food outside marocco in a lit candle room ...reserve ( they speak perfect english and have two service ) to make sure you get a table and get ready for a memorable evening !

ok i can see it was a LOT  about the food and even so i am not even half way down my list and my computer is over heated so i will post in several parts ..
lets call this part 1

good night from my bed and my head full of addresses ...

SHINE LOVE PARIS

I feel it is alright to end my posts about New York tonight since i am going to Paris tomorrow ...one need to turn the page but not without letting you know the fabulous last evening i had in New York :)

so as a surprise we all went (my friends friend and i to a dance studio and had a fun hour jumping around)
Then we all put a pair of hight heels ( remember we came with running shoes ) or some of us wore cool flats and all of us had got dressed for the party !

cool bikers boots with black and white dress..

i loved that combination : silver open toes with flower pant !

mint green Acne dress with hight white and silver wedge ...

and then pretty and ladylike for two of us ...

And the coolest ladies that evening were .... all of us it felt like :)

Hanneli and Sunniva ..

Roda and Mona ...

Charlotte and Hanneli...

Me and the two gorgious ones :)

Then a typical New York moment ...everyone is huberring !! ( i just made up that word ! ) in New York were everything goes faster they have come up with a special luxury taxi app ... its called Uber and with a click of your phone you can locate and order one those cars below .. The trick is that the customers rate the car and the car rate the customers from 1-5 so everyone is trying to keep their rate up or you don't get picked up and/or the customers don't ask for the bad rated cars ...( for 4 days i thought it was called hover/hovering like the waccum cleaner ??? get the joke :)??

one Uber car , nice :) you have lots of leg place inside there, witch is good when hanging around model type of girls cause they have longer legs ...yes yes :)

And then we arrived at the standard hotel were a special room had been prepared for the party ...

i loved the atmosphere and the food witch was some of the best i ate , ever ...

the dinner went on and too fast to my taste , i had such a great moment ...

Then most guest went slowly home but i was happily dragged by Hanneli to the most famous disco i ever set a foot so far , namely the Boom Boom Room !!! yaaaaaaaaaaa

and the coolness did not end there ... first we heard the boom boom room was reserved for a private party but since Hanneli was totally irresistible, we went in faster than a feather carried by the wind ,up to the 27th floor were the bar was as magic as i had hoped for and the view to die for ...

My cocktails that evening were the best i ever had and strange as well , i had asked them to improvise witch the bartender did with success , first cocktail was a very spicy mixture and one had the purest cherry taste ...

the art deco bar ...

the breathtaking view from the windows ...toward the city ..

i was rather puzzled when i understood that the window floor to ceiling in the toilet were of course transparent ....mmmmm, what to do ? take a picture first with the empire building in the back ...then ...

the view toward New jersey ... also on that evening i was suddenly sitting on the side of a huge gang of famous actors and nicole Ritchie ...i told you , in New York it is kind of the norm to bump into famous people everywhere ...

i had a wonderful time !

The day after i was due to take an airplane in the evening and i did not felt so glorious ...

but i loved the sweet perfume of those dyptique candles in my bedroom .

that was my choice of shoes that morning so i picked up the sneakers ( big surprise ) went for an early walk to get rid of the excess of the night before ...

passed the LV windows ..

and went first for the biggest detox juice i could find then a coffee and Tartine with avocado at cafe Gitane ..

Then last walk in the sunny warm day , seeing funny buildings ..

the fantastic Mercer kitchen at the corner building .

we went for lunch at Peel , were they have mind blowing bake goods and wonderful egg benedicte ..

my dish ... it makes me so hungry to write those post !! its a lot about food of course , and fashion , and happy moments .. i hope you liked it ?

Next coming week i will post from Paris and provence ...

A BIENTOT ...

on my last full day in new York i woke as usual super early and as my friend had her birthday we went to eat our breakfast at a lovely brunch place by Tribeca named Bubby´s , all their products are organic and they buy directly from small farmers land , the interior was cosy and the food portions more than generous

and i loved what they did outside the door , blue bench and flowers ..

the coffee alone was worth a visit ...coffee flower ..mhh..

That is my pancakes !!! 3 enormous pieces with bananas and bacon on the side ... i love New York just for that : you can change anything on the menu ! they are so customer oriented and most people have food allergies so you can ask to be served things on the side and made on mesures ... nam nam !

the menu explain were the philosophy of the restaurant ..

funny drawings on the walls ..

moi ....en route to bleekers street in a taxi ..
thinking really hard ...mhhh...i am also going to indulge in a Magnolia bakery cupcake or....
NOT !!!

I was DYING to buy this horribly heavy book about the 30 years of Grace Coddington at VOGUE but had to postpone as the day was barely started and i could not bare to carry heavy bags all day ...

And that other double book of my two favorite fashion photographer Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinooth Matadin...

time for a short pause in front of that cool wall !

And we were hungry again so we stopped at this lovely french inspired small restaurant in the village ..
where for once all the portion were so.... petite ... how normal :)
i had a duck salad and my friend a lemony chicken breast ...( notice i am a bit hungry as i write this blogpost :)

cool bike shop.. how i wish we would have some bicycle trolley like that in this city ...

And later a little trip at the Jerome Dreyfuss shop on Broome street , wall to wall with his wife Isabel Marant shop , my friend had seen my gold bobby bag from jerome and wanted a similar one ...

the shop was huge with lots of cool details , all the bag names were printed on the floor in big letters and all the bags were hanging around in a artful way..

i am looking forward to start again with Jerome Dreyfuss bags at Shine next season !

when we came back home my friend had received a birthday surprise !! a huge 10 litter home made banana pudding made after the Magnolia bakery reciepe and served in a large see-through container :)
nam , she prepared spoons and soon we were allowed to dig into this delicious cake ...witch i should not forget to say was handmade by none the less than the gorgeous Sunniva :)

late afternoon we got dressed to go to a secret birthday party were we had to wear training outfit :)
shhhhhhhh.....

i took it literally so back in my LULU ( www.lululemon.com ) and sneakers ...but my friend had a chic`er alternative but still she had all her outfit ready in her H&M marni bag ....

the shops in front of were i am staying are all right as well :)

Stella , LV ....etc...

i keep the rest of that day for a later post because its rather Fab :)
it is about were we went that evening ...na na na ...

SEE YOU LATER :)
I must say that on my fourth day in New york i was rather proud when we hit the local gym club before height in the morning and i manage to go do my run on one of the treadmill there .. it was a cool feeling to have done that once in my life :)

Afterward i wished so hard for a green juice so we went to the next corner and i had the best juice ever made , you could choose between 10 different green juice or other smoothies and add your favorites shot of extra power ! i had a super detox with kale and added a green detox , it was surprisingly delicious compare to the fit that it was thick and ...deep green :)

the juice bar at the equinox nolita gym center ...
btw.. EVERYONE is having personal training in NY and they are all on the Pilates waves and you can see how it works for them ..

i kept my trainers on the rest of the day ..
and i went for a long walk trough Nolita and throughout Chinatown ...

first lunch stop at Cafe Habana... last time i had a take-away there on my trip in october it was Hanneli who had placed the order and we managed to eat 3 !! corn on the cob each !! the food is delicious there and simple ..nam

next door is The Lab , a french-New York perfumery witch has great scents and cool packaging ..

One of the New Brand we are introducing at SHINE this next autumn is the  New York based but Norwegian made WITH&WESSEL , they opened a shop in New York Nolita lately and we loved their take on new basics in the best wool quality , the line is sporty with a soft edge , the patterns are often stripes , and the shapes are either tight or wide for layering ...that day at their NY shop i found several pieces for me and some for my friend as well .. i am so looking forward to have in the shop next winter !

with&wessel NYshop

the shop interior has a nature inspired layout with real wood logg supporting the clothes rag ..

With&Wessel shop NY
their summer collection was inspired by long summer days at the beach ...mhhhh

Later again i went all the way to the super famous BabyCakes NY bakery ( www.babycakes.com )
to have one of their gluten-free vegan cupcakes , Erin Mc Kenna the supercool owner and maker of this bakery has gain fame in a record time , she created the first proper gluten-free and vegan bakery with tons of delicious cakes some years ago and has an ever growing customers and fans following her , she has now finished her second cook book about how to make her cakes at home and i NEEDED to test one of her cupcake to believe it ! ( i had ordered a year ago her book to try make the same cakes at home but failed badly because you actually need some flour that can only be purchased in the US :( ...

THIS CUPCAKE WAS AMAZING ! i ordered the plain vanilla gluten-free vegan one with no sugar and it was the best texture and the topping with was made from soy was even more yummy than a plain buttercream !!

on my way back i found this other Crazy ! coffee place ... its only in NY you will find such places !
its called roasting plant and the owner there has created a machine that BOTH roast AND grind the cup of coffee you will drink right before your eyes !

you pick your coffee from one of this tube then it is sucked up and goes in front of your eyes through several machine then back to your cup !!

 Amazing result !

I always tell myself when traveling that i won't take back books this time and it never fails !!!
I have by day 4 already ten of them ! and they are heavy !
but when i found" J´adore clic "i could not resist ...

on top of having tons of art books that i would not find easily somewhere else they also had this dreamy photo exhibition witch i fell in love with ..

Jordan Sullivan was the artist and he had a serie taken on the road together with Pamela Love , their work consisted of photos accompanied by text written in the print ..if only i could have got one of those ....

Balthazar is great lunch place but it is so french ! the entire interior down to the tiles have been imported from france , there is always a long waiting queue outside because NewYorkers are crazy about it ..

I would never go to NY without paying a visit at the Isabel Marant store down on Broom street , its happily five minutes from were i stay :)

Did i said that she was the ONE designer everyone is crazy about ? seriously , i became instantly appealing just saying i sold her design in my shop :) people are ordering her things online because her shop is constantly sold out of all her best designs ..

At night we went to cinema and around the corner of our room was this cute guy : )
its not at all in my habit to take pictures of anyone being famous but i used to have him up in my top five of the good looking together with brad pitt in my twenties so i could not help but stuffing my mobile in his face :)  as my friend said : surprising to see him with his shirt on !

HAVE A lovely SHINY sunny !

Day 3 in New York started with a mexican inspired breakfast and then we went straight to MOMA while it was still early , my friend had a membership card there so we avoided the queue witch was wonderful since it stretched out for meters..actually i think it would be best to buy a membership next time since it does not cost a lot more then a couple of entrances and you cut the queue ..

Went primarily at MOMA to see the Cindy Sherman retrospective but they have some of the most beautiful pieces from all over the world so the rest of the museum is absolutely worth having a look at ..

Afterward we took a little stroll around to do something a lot more superficial :) cupcakes and nail job ..

this little cupcake bakeshop is in Nolita and have a crazy choice when it comes to cakes and cupcakes ..

we went to do our nails afterward and it was a bit like a bonbon butikk as we'll , so many colors to choose from ...

i ended up with an orange Essie and my friend a pale lilac ..lovely ...

at the end of the day we went walking on Bleeker street starting at Magnolia Bakery and ends up by this fun wall ...

I like the cards i have been handed in my life , specially this day spend walking around , i would not change it for anything else .. i felt blessed ..
